Affiliated Construction Trades (ACT) Ohio supports President Obama’s proposal to dramatically increase spending on infrastructure projects around the country. Last night in his State of the Union Address President Obama proposed that half the money saved by United States in ending the war in Iraq and winding down the war in Afghanistan should be spent on infrastructure projects.
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated savings from the two wars would result in about $440 billion less in spending during 2012-2021. Congressional Democrats have previously proposed using savings from the two ways to pay for infrastructure projects; however that legislation has been met with little support by Congressional Republicans. ACT Ohio supports President Obama’s increased efforts to utilizing the savings from these two wars to rebuild American’s roadways, bridges and other infrastructure projects and supporting job growth around the country for construction professionals.
