Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has introduced the National Right to Work Act, S. 204, to “preserve and protect the free choice of individual employees to form, join or assist labor organizations, or to refrain from such activities.”
A press release on the senator’s website regarding the act states, “Sen. Paul’s Right to Work Act does not add a single word to existing federal law, it simply deletes forced unionism provisions in federal law.”
What the press release does not address is the fact that federal law already prohibits any American from being forced to join a union. Organized labor is created to protect the wages, health and safety of each and every member of the union, not by force.
The press release also fails to mention that wages in “so called right to work” states are currently 3.2% lower (and have a poverty rate at least 2.3% higher) than other states.
“So Called Right to Work” laws amount to “Right to Work for LESS;” let Sen. Rand know that this attack on the middle class will not be endorsed on a national level.
