Construction spending up nationwide during February 2013, at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $885.1 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce, which is a slight increase (1.2%) above the $874.8 billion estimate released in January.
During the first two months of 2013, construction spending amounted to $120.1 billion, as compared to $112.6 billion for the same period in 2012.
The biggest gains in construction spending were in the private sector; the February 2013 seasonally adjusted rate for the private sector was $613 billion, a 1.3% increase above the revised January estimate.
Construction spending by local, state and the federal government also increased .9% since January.
