ACT Ohio is proud to announce its support for the Protect Cleveland Jobs NOW! initiative. The group is demanding that Cleveland State University comply with local building standards and utilize skilled local construction professionals building its $50 million residential neighborhood community, “Campus Village.”

The Fannie M. Lewis Resident Employment Law requires that contractors working on public construction projects within the City of Cleveland must have a workforce of at least 20% Clevelanders, thus supporting local skilled construction professionals and the local economy. Rather than complying with the law and supporting local workers CSU has exploited a loophole and has hired out of state contractors for the Campus Village project, sending millions of public dollars out of state.

ACT Ohio vigorously advocates that public entities must comply with local building and construction standards to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely on quality construction and support the local economy. ACT Ohio supports Protect Cleveland Jobs NOW! demands that CSU must comply with the Fannie M. Lewis Resident Employment Law and support local skilled construction professionals and the local Cleveland economy.
