The 70th quadrennial Ohio State Building and Construction Trades Council (“OSBCTC”) Convention was held November 20th through the 22nd in Columbus, Ohio. An estimated 160 building trades members from across the state attended the convention, along with 14 sponsors of the event. Dennis Duffey was unanimously re-elected to his role as Secretary Treasurer of the OSBCTC.
When asked about the convention, Duffey remarked “The convention was a success. Issues of importance were vigorously debated, yet resolution was found on all items before the convention. The delegates left feeling accomplished and ready to move forward together.”
Mike Knisley was also unanimously reelected as the President of the OSBCTC. In addition to his service on the Executive Board of the OSBCTC, Mr. Knisley is the Business Manager of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 776 and the President of the Lima Building Trades Council.
There were a few special guest speakers, including U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, Tim Burga, President of the Ohio AFL-CIO, and Patrick Reardon of the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council. Ohio Senators Larry Obhof and Randy Gardner also addressed the convention.
ACT Ohio sponsored the convention and talked to various trades’ members about our mission and the services we offer. We are proud to serve members of the building and construction trades.
