The Affiliated Construction Trades of Ohio (“ACT Ohio”) is a 501(c)(5) organization created by the Ohio State Building & Construction Trades Council to facilitate economic and industrial development and incorporate industry best practices for Ohio’s public and private capital improvement projects. ACT Ohio announced Friday that its Executive Board formally endorsed a number of candidates for public office.

More than six months after Noel Canning v. National Labor Relations Board came to national attention, the Senate voted to confirm five NLRB nominees, creating a fully confirmed board for the first time in a decade.

The NLRB has continued to issue decisions while awaiting the U.S. Supreme Court review of President Obama’s controversial board appointments of January 2012; those appointments were ruled invalid by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit because the Senate was not technically in recess at that time.

The Affiliated Construction Trades of Ohio (“ACT Ohio”) announced that the Dayton Building and Construction Trades Council and Dayton Real Estate Ventures (“Penn Gaming”) have reached a Memorandum of Agreement (“MOA”) for the remaining construction of the Dayton Racino project.

Members of IBEW Local 673 contacted ACT Ohio seeking some research and assistance related to how the Lake County Metropolitan Housing Authority bid a major apartment renovation project.

After a review of meeting minutes and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development rules, ACT Ohio legal counsel Rob Dorans uncovered some possible problems including bidding the project portions separately which resulted in an increase of $200,000 to the project and a violation of HUD rules.
