The Affiliated Construction Trades of Ohio (ACT Ohio) announced the hiring of State Rep. Matt Szollosi (D-Oregon) to become its first Executive Director. Mr. Szollosi currently serves as the Assistant Minority Leader in the Ohio House of Representatives.
Mr. Szollosi is currently in his fourth and final term in the Ohio House. First elected to the Ohio House in 2006, Mr. Szollosi has been a strong voice for economic development and the skilled construction trades during his time in the General Assembly. In the 128th General Assembly he served as the Speaker Pro Tem of the Ohio House. In addition to his role in the Ohio House, Rep. Szollosi is the managing partner of D’Angelo, Szollosi & Hughes Co. L.P.A., a Toledo based law firm specializing in labor law.
Mr. Szollosi joins ACT Ohio as the organization expands operations to support the skilled construction trades industry. ACT Ohio advocates for quality, safe construction by qualified contractors and skilled craftsmen, as well as level competition to ensure the state’s tax dollars are invested properly. Additionally, the group works to educate the public on the importance of fair wages, workforce training, safety standards and green construction practices.
“I am excited to take the reins of ACT Ohio at such an important time for our state and the skilled construction trades industry” said Mr. Szollosi. “The skilled construction trades industry is a vital asset to every Ohioan. These hard working men and women build our homes, roads, schools and our community and they do it with the best trained workforce.”
